Wildlife
Aware that the landscape we enjoy is the result of generations of traditional farming, Brian and Janet combine their farming with management of habitats specifically for the benefit of wildlife. Some areas have been fenced off from livestock grazing and others managed sensitively to encourage a wide range of bird, animal and insect species. Barn Owls are now a regular sight hunting the field-side hedges and water margins. Hawks of many kinds are present along with many waders and grassland birds and hares. “There is no better sight than a flock of lapwings ‘dive-bombing’ as you feed the cattle at first light in the morning” says Brian, “the noise from their wings has to be experienced to be believed.”
